National Commemoration Day of Ferdowsi

Today 15 May is National Commemoration Day of Ferdowsi (940 – 1020) the great Persian poet and celebrates Persian Language Day

Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh “The Book of Kings” preserved Persian identity language and heritage is the world’s longest epic poem created by a single poet. He spent over three decades writing the Shahnameh. This is what Ferdowsi believes about his work and his life purpose.

Much I have suffered in these thirty years,

I have revived the Ajam with my verse.

I will not die then alive in the world,

For I have spread the seed of the word.

Whoever has sense, path, and faith,

After my death will send me praise.
